A fixture on Cedar Lane since the '50s, Butterflake became a kosher bakery when owners David and Richard Heisler bought the shop in 1998. In its present incarnation, Butterflake has won awards for being the "Best Bakery in Bergen County." It is known for its challah, which is available in many shapes and sizes, as well as traditional Jewish rye bread, coffee cake, pies, cookies and special-occasion cakes. David's Bagels serves bagels, sandwiches and drinks, including a variety of fresh coffee. Customers can choose from a variety of bagel and spread flavors, and sandwiches are filled with Boar's Head cold cuts. The business is owner-operated and opened in 2001. Half an hour before closing, the price of a dozen bagels drops from $9.50 to $3.99. Catering services are also available.
