Stew Leonards is one of the worlds largest dairy stores and a renowned grocery store. In addition to the headquarters store in Norwalk, Conn., Stew Leonards has stores in Danbury, Conn. and Yonkers, N.Y., with a fourth store planned for the near future. Stew Leonards history can be traced back to the early 1920s, when Charles Leo Leonard started Clover Farms Dairy in Norwalk, Connecticut. Stew Leonards dream was to build a retail dairy store where children could watch milk being bottled, while mothers did their shopping in a farmers market atmosphere. In December 1969, Stew Leonards opened its doors - a 17,000 square foot store carrying just eight items. Stew Leonards has grown at an amazing pace - and 30 additions have since been added to the original store. Stew Leonards has taken the fresh dairy concept and expanded into meats, fish, produce, bakery, cheese and wine. Unlike traditional grocery stores that sell an average 30,000 items, each Stew Leonards store carries only 2,000 items. Stew Leonards has remained a family business. Stew Leonards was dubbed the Disneyland of Dairy Stores by the New York Times, because of its own milk processing plant, costumed characters, scheduled entertainment, petting zoo and animatronics throughout the stores.

Almost a century ago the business was started in Italy, then Angela Mia's Grandparents came to America. To this day it still uses the same bakery recipes for their cakes and cookies, which are all natural with no additives or preservatives.

It's conveniently located right off of I-95, not within driving distance no worries they will ship their cookies nationwide and you can place your order on-line.

Bagels reign supreme at Bagel King. Just ask the Norwalk High School band members, who come into the store every morning for bagels (plain is the most popular) and coffee. Owner Emilio has owned the hotspot for 12 years. For those lucky customers who catch him on a day when he's made some cannolis and lobster tails stuffed with Nutella, they'll get an extra special treat.

We're not sure where Liz Sue Bagels I is, but come to II here, order a bagel and coffee and look at the bulletin board inside. It has muffins and 3- to 6-foot wedges (not on bagels) here, as well as breakfast sandwiches and eggs. If the weather is nice, you can sit at a table outside.
