Car-Mic Truck Accessories was founded in 1972 by brothers Carl (CAR) and Michael (MIC) Wissler. While still holding full time jobs at other companies, the brothers began manufacturing caps for pickup trucks as a part-time venture. After initial success, they gave their attention to the business full time, first by manufacturing the wooden truck cap, then the aluminum truck cap, and then by opening up distribution of their products to over 150 RV and truck cap dealers along the east coast. The Wissler Brothers started their business in an alley in Lancaster, PA. As the business grew, they relocated to an old feed mill in Leola, PA, where they hired additional workers but faced their first of two setbacks. An electrical fire forced them to move their business from Leola to an old RV parts supply warehouse, where they rebuilt, hired more workers and added a sales person to their team. In 1976, they moved again to a larger facility, an old canning factory, in Delta, PA. As the aluminum truck cap became more in demand, their business flourished and continued to grow. However, another setback, a second fire, forced them to rethink their role as manufacturers. A decision was made to open a retail sales operation, and in 1984, they started their first retail lot in Willow Street, PA. Three years later, they officially abandoned the manufacturing side of the business and moved to their current location of 789 Flory Mill Road, Lancaster, PA. Since 1987, Car-Mic has grown into a leading retail sales and installation venture. Car-Mics facility in Lancaster includes a new showroom, a storage warehouse, and a large installation workshop. Less than 2 miles away is a second storage facility housing over 10,000 sq. ft. of additional products, allowing us to have more selections readily available for our customers. Car-Mic has become one of the largest truck, SUV, and auto accessory sources in Central Pennsylvania by serving a walk-in client base plus truck dealers in Lancaster, York, Berks, Dauphin, and Chester counties.
