Garden Gallery & Studio is an art studio for artists with developmental disabilities in the Tinley Park area. The studio gives individuals an environment to express themselves, and offers classes for a variety of age levels. "Art Around the World" is for children ages 5-10, "Drawing for Teens" is for 13- to 18-year-olds and there are beginning painting and guitar classes for adults. Classes cost between $60 and $70, and there also is an art club that meets at 7 p.m. the second Saturday of every month. Paintings produced by individuals can be sold at the gallery and any income generated there benefits the artists themselves and Garden Center Services, a not-for-profit agency.
The Tinley Park District turned the house of the town's first mayor, Henry Vogt, into an elegant and functional art center. The center offers the men, women and children of Tinley Park the opportunity to experience art through local artist galleries and classes (watercolor, stained glass, youth art programs and oil painting). The galleries are free to the public and classes are very affordable. The center also sells original prints.
