Grosse Ile Hardware's cute white-clapboard-style building is the first clue that this may be a different sort of hardware store. Ray and Laura Biddle have made major improvements since 2002, when they purchased the business from the previous owners. In addition to renovating the 60-year-old building, they created attractive foundation plantings to create a welcoming and attractive exterior. Inside is everything the big box stores offer, plus the personal attention and helpful service that is the hallmark of an independent retailer.
