Kids Quest offers quality child care services in the Mohegan Sun Casino. Experienced, licensed, CPR-certified childcare professionals provide supervision for children ages six weeks to twelve years old. This vibrant indoor playground features slides, climbing equipment, tunnels and games as well as a karaoke star stage for budding singers, a quiet play zone and non-violent video games. Kids Quest is adjacent to Cyber Quest in the Mohegan Sun arcade. The Quest Cafe provides snacks for a nominal fee.
Ocean Beach Park offers recreational activities for the entire family to enjoy. This includes a one-half mile beach and boardwalk, pool and water slide, arcade games, an 18-hole mini golf course, a cafe, a playground and an ice cream stand. Individuals can purchase daily admission and parking tickets and seasonal passes.
Harkness Memorial Park holds the former mansion of Edward Harkness, a former multi-millionaire philanthropist, overlooking 230-acres of waterfront property. The mansion was purchased by Harkness in 1907, and with the help of landscape designed Beatrix Jones Farrand and over two hundred million dollars of his own money, Harkness restored the grounds into one of the most elegant sites in Connecticut.
There is admission costs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with tours of the mansion available during that same time. The mansion hosts weddings as well, and admission is free from September to May.
Calf Pasture Beach and Shady Beach are adjoining Norwalk-owned beaches and parks on the Long Island Sound in East Norwalk. Calf Pasture Beach's amenities include a guarded beach, grassy park area, pier, boat ramp, boat rentals, baseball diamonds, a skate park, basketball, volleyball and bocce courts, a playground, picnic tables with umbrellas, restrooms and changing areas, rental chairs, and a seasonal grill and ice cream store maintained by Stew Leonard's.
Shady Beach offers a guarded beach, grassy park area, shaded picnic tables, barbecue grills and restrooms. Across from Shady Beach on Canfield Avenue is another city-owned park, Taylor Farm, featuring a dog park and pond.
Calf Pasture Beach opened in 1924 and Shady Beach opened to the public in the 1960s. The parks are maintained by the Park Maintenance Division of the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department.
The Portland Golf Course is open to the public. It offers golf lessons and cart rentals. This is an 18-hole golf course with a pro shop and restaurant on the property. There are assorted tournaments throughout the season.
Located at the end of Waterside Lane, the Clinton Town Beach is a treasure of the town, offering beautiful sandy beaches, great views of Long Island Sound and peaceful scenery. The 1,700-foot-long beach is managed and staffed by the town's Parks and Recreation Department. During the summer season, residents can purchase a yearly pass (there is a reduced fee for seniors); non-residents pay per visit. Buses are welcome and pay per visit, as well. The beach also offers a (new) restroom building and snack shack.
Walnut Beach features sand for sunbathers and a pier for fishing. There is also plenty of shade under the Devon Rotary Pavilion and nearby picnic benches with canopies. The beach boasts one of Connecticut's longest boardwalks. Visitors can enjoy watching boats zoom across the Long Island Sound or seagulls spreading their wings along the shoreline.
At Pump It Up, kids enjoy romping on gigantic inflatable slides, bounce houses and obstacle courses. One of five locations throughout the northeast, this Pump It Up has open play hours and also hosts birthday parties, which include pizza and beverages. A trained staff is on hand to supervice the children.
