Established in 1970, Baton Rouge Zoo offers a variety of wildlife conservation programs and services throughout the state of Louisiana. The zoo has various creatures that include aquatic mammals, bears, birds, cats, chimpanzees and dogs. It also has elephants, gibbons, gorillas, reptiles and amphibians, monkeys, orangutans and rhinos. The zoo has an online bookstore that has a large collection of books on wildlife and forests. Its books include Gorillas in the Mist, African Elephants a celebration of majesty, Through a Window and Walking with the Great Apes. The zoo also has a research center that offers reports on behavior of the animals, educational resources, and reviews on health and growth of animals. It is located in Baton Rouge, La.
