The Menomonee Falls Fire Department was founded in 1894 and is currently led by Fire Chief Jeffrey Hevey, who has been with the department since 2009. The fire department is operated by a mixture of full-time, part-time, standby and reserve members.
The four-station department provides fire protection for the 33-square-mile village, and firefighters responded to more than 2,600 calls in 2010 as compared to 882 in 1979.
The fire department is headquartered in Station 3, which was formerly the home of North Hills School. Station 3 is one of two stations in the department that is staffed 24 hours a day.
Serving approximately 47,000 residents in 13 square miles, the Wauwatosa Fire Department currently employs 99 personnel housed at three fire stations.
Fire Station #1 is located at 1601 Underwood Ave., #2 is located at 4187 N. Mayfair Rd. and #3 is located at 10525 Watertown Plank Rd. The Underwood Ave. headquarters station houses the department's administrative services.
The department's website contains information regarding permits, home safety and emergency medical services as well as the department's hiring process and fire prevention division.
Many passing motorists and even residents themselves will say they have no idea the exact boundaries that differentiate the town and city of Brookfield, especially on the busy Blue Mound Road commercial corridor.
But while the two Brookfields share the same name, the town has a smaller territory and municipal government.
Town Hall, located on Janacek Road, is staffed full-time by a clerk, administrator and additional department heads and support staff, which organizes events such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
