The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission is an entity created by the Maryland General Assembly to operate the parklands, develop public park systems and plan land use in Montgomery and Prince George's counties. The commission also has its own police department hat surveys the park lands and responds to crime within them. It also works with Prince George's County Police Department regularly as well as the local University Park and Riverdale Park police departments.
