Maintained in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort was established in 1995. Since the 1930s, alpine skiing has been a popular winter recreation activity at Lee Canyon. Other area offerings include snowboarding, half pipe and terrain park. The resort s services encompass ski lessons, rentals, children programs and group packages. The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort opens in late November, closing date is subject to weather and interest. The United States Forest Service evaluated winter sport possibilities for the area in 1941. During this period skiers were towed by ropes behind horse drawn sleds up to the site. In 1964, management established a Forest Service permit and development at Lee Canyon commenced.
