Lane Furniture Industries began in 1912 when John Lane purchased a box plant in Virginia and decided to manufacture cedar chests. In 1972, the company acquired Action Industries, a small reclining chair company, and expanded into upholstered furniture. Lane Furniture Industries offers furnishings for the living room, dining room and bedroom, such as sofas, occasional tables and recliners; dining tables, china cabinets and buffets; and bed frames, dressers and nightstands. The company employs more than 1,000 people and is a subsidiary of Furniture Brands International, which also owns Broyhill, Thomasville and Drexel Heritage. Furniture Brands International is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol FBN. Lane Furniture Industries is located in Tupelo, Miss.
