Kesher Israel has served the modern Orthodox Jewish community of Georgetown and the surrounding area for nearly 100 years. Most synagogue members live in Georgetown or within walking distance. Kesher is the only synagogue in the downtown area of D.C. and is the spiritual home for many government officials, including members of Congress and ambassadors. The structure, rebuilt in 1931, boasts milky stained-glass-like windows made from post-industrial materials available at the time of construction.The neighboring administrative building offers children's programming on Saturday mornings at 10:30am.
