The Air Quality Management division is responsible for monitoring and maintaining air quality in southern Nevada. It also develops control measures and educates the citizens of Clark County in Nevada. The division is a part of the Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management, which implements and enforces air pollution control programs. The department maintains approximately 20 monitoring stations. The Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management provides various outreach, education and community information programs. Its planning section prepares studies, performs technical analyses, researches air quality issues and develops strategies to attain federal standards. The department s environmental division develops documents that include guidelines and directions for responsible land use. The Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management implements and monitors desert conservation, water quality, solid waste, trails and federal lands programs. It follows standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
