The City of Hurricane, W.Va., offers a range of recreational opportunities for families at local schools, City Park, Valley Park, Sleepy Hollow County Club, Sports City USA and Tri-County YMCA. It also includes specialty shops, History Row, a restored CSX caboose and a series of murals. The city operates the Hurricane Valley Community Center, Museum in the Community Arts Center, Main Street Studio, and Conference and Meeting Centers. It additionally maintains the Hurricane Development Authority and the Convention & Visitors Bureau that promote local businesses and tourism opportunities. The city supports a variety of community policing programs that includes neighborhood watch, business alert and citizen academies to educate residents about crime prevention.
