The Barton County Sheriffs Office is a law enforcement agency that is responsible for preserving peace and protecting lives and property within the county s jurisdiction. It performs duties related to suppression of unlawful disturbances and apprehension and securing persons charged with felony or breach of peace, as well as operating the county detention center. The Barton County Sheriffs Office supports the Crime Stoppers program, which is affiliated with the National Crime Stoppers Organization and provides opportunities for citizens to report illegal activities to volunteers of the program. The office maintains a Crisis Response Team (CRT) that provides services in emergency and dangerous conditions, such as barricaded and hostage situations, bomb threats, special events and civil defense.
