Mental Health Empowerment Project is a nonprofit corporation that develops self-help and mutual support recovery activities throughout the United States. The organization provides technical assistance, instruction and guidance to mental health professionals and the recipients of mental health services and their families. It also offers various awareness programs for mental health providers and planners. Mental Health Empowerment Project offers a variety of training modules on topics, such as stress reduction techniques, problem solving with individuals, spirituality and recovery and building effective work teams. Established in 1988, the organization is a program of the Mental Health Association of New York State, which is a nonprofit, statewide network of community-based mental health associations.
